Lucky Gunner was selling 223

Lucky Gunner was selling 223 Tula for $18 a box today....

I guess if you narrowly compare this Wolf "deal" to that of LG's Tula...then yeah its a "deal".

Guess they're still trolling for suckers.....

cabelas in store az......7.99

cabelas in store az......7.99 a box for russian steel......TODAY!

Wow....the sooner people stop buying at over 10 bucks a box out the door.... The sooner we'll see prices drop!
I would not buy brass 223 a cent over wally's price.
Those ten boxes with 9.1% salesctax would be 100 bucks.

I need to make a trip to Glendale then as that seems to be a decent deal. Thanks!

Shot 150 rounds today in Casa Grande and it was real windy. I didn't care much for the American Eagle ammo either.

Need to pickup some 7.62 too for the right price.

I'm sure most people know

I'm sure most people know this, but I wanted to point out that most AR manufacturers recommend against using lacquer / polymer coated ammo, as well as steel cased ammo. Some manufacturers will actually void your warranty if you use it. Check it out before you partake in this non-deal.

and how are they going to

and how are they going to know what you shot?

Apparently what happens is

Apparently what happens is the chamber heats up as you fire more rounds and due to the tight tolerances of the AR platform, some of the lacquer or polymer can melt off and gum up all the parts in there. Everything seems fine while your shooting because it retains temperature, but once stop shooting the lacquer or polymer re-solidifies, and you've essentially glued everything together. It's not impossible to fix, but it borderline totals your upper receiver.

I don't know how they would know about steel cased ammo - perhaps the wear patterns would be different vs brass cased? Premature extractor failure? I don't really know.

No personal experience, just passing along warranty terms on one of my rifles that might be helpful to others... As a side note AKs do not have similar problems due to the looser tolerances, which partially accounts for the accuracy differences between the platforms.

Please stop perpetuating the

Please stop perpetuating the "it will ruin your gun" myth. That is an empty scare-tactic. I've fired lots of steel-cased (poly-coated) Wolf and Tula ammo and my rifles run just fine.
No it is not as "perfect" as brass, it is dirty and its not as reliable as Brass (some guns much worse than others). But I've fired hundreds and hundreds of rounds through a few different rifles, and it's never "ruined" a rifle.

Look at Lucky Gunner torture test of Brass vs Steel cased ammo:

Oh, and I want to reiterate

Oh, and I want to reiterate that I'm just passing along info. If you shoot it in your AR and have no problems, feel free to continue - I really don't care how you treat your own property. I personally don't think it's worth putting cheap ass ammo in a premium rifle.

Well lets be fair, what is

Well lets be fair, what is premium about an AR-15?? I have quite a few, and won't shoot this through my Noveske barrel....but on a cheap $1000 PSA or Spikes AR-15 with a basic barrel you aren't hurting anything at all.....just sayin' It's dirty.....so what? You clean it after every shoot anyway.... I'd love for someone to explain what exactly the adverse effects of steel ammo casing are...LOL. But I appreciate your opinion.

Absolutely nothing wrong with

Absolutely nothing wrong with shooting this. Some gun shops and "experts" will tell you not to, but they just don't know what they are talking about. Ranges like to take your brass....and tell newies that steel cases are bad?!?!? There is bi-metal bullets and FMJ (russian) versions but really not a big deal. It may heat up the barrel a little more, but I have shot 100,000+ rounds of this stuff through various weapons and have never had an issue. If you shoot out a barrel , buy another one......and anyone that tells you the AR platform has "tight" tolerances should be shrugged off. The 5.56 Round "can possibly" create a higher pressure when fired from a dedicated .223 barrel......but I've never heard of it, especially considering the wide variant in loads of all commercial ammo. If you shoot a 5.56 or .223 out of a 5.56 barrel you will absolutely NEVER have an issue. The 5.56 is designed as a loose fitting version of the .223 (laymans terms). As far as steel ammo, it runs dirty, but I shoot Piston AR's so it isn't an issue. On a DI (gas) AR, it can cause an extra few minutes of cleaning, and the bullet itself can wear a non CL (Chrome lined) barrel out fater, but nothing you will ever notice unless you are shooting thousands of rounds every week, and using full auto etc. People make way too big of an issue out of Steel ammo IMO. Barrels are $100....put a new one on and go shooting..... This is of course for shooting paper and plinking......Use good ammo when your life depends on it.

Like I said, it's totally

Like I said, it's totally cool with me if you want to use your AR as a shovel or a hammer or whatever. I just think people should be aware of all the information to make informed decisions, and I appreciate the counter arguments.

Here's one example, I don't have time to find all the statements:
