Like you wouldn't do the

Like you wouldn't do the same.

When it comes to big business, nothing is more important than increasing profits for the shareholder, and nothing secures and grows their investments better than government contracts. Do Halliburton, Raytheon and Boeing ring a bell?

If you were in charge and went the other direction "for the people", you'd be looking for a new job... and with a record of turning down multimillion dollar contracts, you'd most likely have a tough time finding one.

In a perfect world, I hear ya... but in a capitalist society where its about nothing more than the almighty dollar, you and your ideals lose.

What does Halliburton,

What does Halliburton, Raytheon, and Boeing have to do with the topic at hand? Halliburton barely deals with the government, Boeing is the largest global aircraft manufacturer (though that doesn't stop you from buying their product as a non incorporated invidual), and Raytheon is the largest manufacturer of guided missiles and radar/sensing systems (which results in Boeing and Lockheed being Raytheon's largest customers, through technolog subcontracts).

Two of the companies you mentioned have been dealing with company re-orgs to survive tighter and tighter economic pressures, and the recent impacts of sequestration. Government contracts are fickled, not guaranteed.... otherwise the ammunition manufacturers would increase their manufacturing capacity in anticipation of future contracts.
