Beretta PX4 images from
Beretta PX4 images from vendors are often incorrect. The PX4 comes in four "Types" and all are hammer fired.
Two "Types" have noticible slide mounted Decocker (DA/SA) levers - The Type F, and the Type G. They look similar externally. The hammer is also visible.
Both are Double Action then SIngle Action mechanism. (DA/SA) This means the trigger pull is heavier on the uncocked first shot. Both can be manually cocked and used as single action.
Type F = Combo Decocker plus Trigger Disconnect Safety - the most common variant. Safety must be OFF to enable firing.
Type G = Decocker Only - No Safety. Actuating the spring-tensioned Decocker Lever lowers the hammer, can then be fired as Double Action.
Two "Types" DO NOT have a slide mounted Decocker - The Type C and Type D. These also look similar externally, due to the smooth slide and hidden bobbed hammer. The hammer state is either always partially cocked (Type C - Constant Action - light weight DA only) or always dropped (Type D - heavy DA only). The hammer cannot be directly thumb-cocked by the operator.
Type C = Partial/Half Cock - near Single Action only - hammer is partially cocked by slide action, similar to a Striker Fired action.
Each trigger pull completes cocking and releases hammer.
Type D = Double Action Only - each trigger pull cocks and releases hammer.
