Bought one of these about a

Bought one of these about a year ago. Bolt cycled beautifully like others have said. The stock was disgustingly ugly, but I sanded it out and watco oiled it and it's super nice. All metal is perfect, fires flawlessly. 300 rds no malfunction of any kind. Buy with confidence.

Nice to see them back in stock. I checked when I woke up this morning and they were still sold out. Thanks for the post.

I bought a BUNCH of these

I bought a BUNCH of these rifles. All of the stocks were black, coated with sandy grime and had some mysterious white substance (growing?) on them. A few had heavy pitting on the outside and substantial pitting within the bores. All of the stocks held beautiful grain once sanded, stained and polyurethaned. Every single rifle grouped better than any of my Russian varieties, excluding the mint M38 I bought from Classic a few months back.
The ironic thing is that the worst pitted rifles are the best shooters. The rifle that has heavy pitting down the entire bore groups MOA with a scout scope installed. The point I'm making is that you can't judge a book by its cover OR a MilSurp rifle by its appearance.

Not to mention the bolt

Not to mention the bolt actions cycle like butter and the trigger is amazingly light for a Mosin Nagant. So, by all means, PLEASE continue to buy these, take one look at them then SEND THEM BACK. This way, in a few months, they might drop the price down to 2 for 99 dollars or something and I can buy up the rest of them. Considering j@ck@zzes are selling Mosin bolts complete for 50+ dollars, this rifle is worth more than 99 just for parts use alone.

I finally got to take my T53

I finally got to take my T53 to the range. I agree with the comment re the bolt. It cycled very smoothly. Probably due to wear. I have a couple other Russian mosins that looked brand new but the bolts don't cycle nearly as smoothly. Accuracy was very good. Was hitting the gong at 200 yds consistently. Overall, good purchase.

I got one recently and it was easily in "Good" condition. Stock was a bit beat up but nothing a little sandpaper and stain didn't fix. Blueing was a bit worn but some cold blue took care of that. Nice shooter and am very happy with it.

I bought one of these and am

I bought one of these and am currently in the process of refinishing it. It was in similar condition as others have described. It's looking really good now but it took a lot of time and work to get there. If you like restoring firearms then this is a good project. I wouldn't buy this if you're just looking to save $130 vs. buying an M44. The amount of time and cost of supplies (if you don't already have them) will probably cancel out any savings. Of course if you just want a cheap carbine to shoot and don't care how it looks then buy this one, clean the cosmoline and mud (yes, mine had mud in the mag), and check the head space.. done. Definitely makes for a good conversation piece.

Mine has a "good

Mine has a "good personality."

This thing is UNBELIEVABLY f*cked up lol. The stock looks like it was used as a door stop in a coal mine. A wet coal mine..

I don't have high standards by any means but this thing is pretty damn far from "good" condition lol.. and aside from the rust and pitting it almost feeds/chambers a round every time! (When the bolt closes that is)
The only upshot is the bbl and receiver seem to be in good condition.. so now all I need is everything else :)..

Here's a picture of mine (My 91/30 on top.. Type 53 on bottom)

Hey, do you still have the box and/or tags either of those shipped in? The one I received had somebody else's user name on 'em, thought that was kinda strange. Just wanted to compare it to somebody else's to see if they all said the same thing as mine.

Yours looks better than mine.

Yours looks better than mine.

As I'm cleaning it, I think there's some potential there however. But the stock is beyond crap condition. I'm gonna refinish it, one way or the next, but the *chunks* torn out of it are beyond repair.

The metal seems good, all said. Weird.

So what's the verdict on these? For $119 shipped you can't go wrong right? If the stock is in too bad shape is it replaceable?

Be aware that the probability

Be aware that the probability of these rifles being rough and ugly is pretty high. I received 3 last week, all of them were well abused. Metal appears in acceptable shape but the stocks are utterly hammered. One was missing a rear guard screw.

Will buds ship to a c&r license holder? I thought one of the big online stores wouldn't. Maybe it was ctd? Doesn't matter about them though because they won't be getting a dime of my money.

We ordered 5 from Century,

We ordered 5 from Century, and the best one of the lot could be described as "In absolutely terrible condition".

The metal looks okay but the wood is pure throw away grade. Figure on buying a $60-100 stock for your $90 prize unless you want to be embarrassed every time you take it out of the case.

Here's a pic of the lot we got:
