Well that one still sucks as
Well that one still sucks as bad as having 10.
Walmart sells these now, not that they are worth owning.
Have you actually owned/shot
Have you actually owned/shot one of these' or are you one of those if its not a $4000 tactical beast its not worth paying attention to guys? I actually owned this rifle for a year or so its not a bad gun at all. I never had any failures and the groupings were better than ok. Would i take this to iraq? No for obvious reasons is it a great gun to shoot varmints and paper, absolutely. Dont knock it unless youve had a substantial seat time with it. Its a great entry level AR.
The Sportical is the
The Sportical is the poor-man's AR option. The first AR I bought about 5 years ago was the Panther Sportical. I've since built/bought several of my own....everything from a mix of cheap DTI/CMMG parts up to a complete POF upper.
You pretty much hit it on the head to insinuate you actually need to know what your talking about from experience, or else you're just talking out of your ass. I still have my Sportical upper and have it mounted on a Plum Crazy lower I picked up for dirt-cheap. There isn't a thing wrong with these uppers. The average shooter doesn't need a dust cover. As far as the lack of a forward assist.....I can't think of a single time I NEEDED one in an entire Army career. The lack of a shell deflector is a bit of a problem for left handed shooters though. My dad is a leftie and got nailed by a piece of brass when he shot mine (he's fine with uppers with a deflector).
Here's a decent write-up from American Rifleman:
