Yup good idea. Send ammo through USPS which is illegal. Don't like it, don't buy it. Very simple concept.

Ammo must be sent ground shipping. Maybe $9 shipping is a little high, but for people close to a Cabela's, they can have it shipped to store for free and go pick it up. Or if you really need ammo, then 44 cents a round really isn't that bad.

Or you can get a Cabela's credit card, buy a bunch of other stuff while you're at it, and get $5 shipping.

The planet where shipping (and for people that get screwed w/ sales tax) is a deal breaker. If they were charging 9$ for 150/200 rounds that would make more sense. I just had 500 rounds of 223 Tula shipped from Louisiana to NC which UPS listed as 12 pounds, I will confirm this tomorrow when I pick up. I was charged 12$ for standard ground and the box was double boxed because UPS employs untrained apes.

I tried to place an order on Midway tonite for four items that could go in a 5$ box as well as fit the weight requirement and Midway quoted 18$ for ground shipping from Missouri to me. That is fucking insane.

From my experience, most of the steel cased crap is old information that people pass around without actually checking. I guess it does depend on the rifle, but my psa cycles it no problem. And everyone always says it will wear out your extractor. Well, even if thats true you will save enough money buying steel that you can buy 5 extractors. Go for it.

**UPDATE** Got a voicemail from Cabela's this morning that ammo is limited to 5 boxes per day and that my extra two orders were being cancelled. No problem with the policy but the product order page states that the limit is "5 boxes per order". Further, their Ammunition Limitations policy in FAQ states:

"Cabela's is limiting the number of boxes of ammunition, per caliber, that can be purchased. This limitation, which will be lifted once supply catches up with demand, will provide the best chance for the greatest number of our customers to fulfill their needs. Please check the product page for quantity limitations."

Just wish they'd get their own policy straight.

Well isn't there something saying for anything over 55grain you need a 1:7 twist?
Steel I've heard tends to get stuck in the barrel due to the coating on it after the gun heats up it melts and becomes like a glue...plus there may be some properties to steel that differ from brass... best thing to do is make sure all shots sound the same, if one sounds different don't fire another round until you check to make sure the barrel is CLEAR... if you get a bullet stuck in the barrel and fire another round then you'll be lucky if all you do is mess up the barrel..it could blow out and mess you up. Best thing to do before any shooting is READ THE FUCKING MANUAL that came with your AR...perhaps read it TWICE or maybe three times... A buddy has a DPMS and he says the manual states DO NOT USE STEEL AMMO! I have a Bushmaster and soon I will have two Colt's.. I don't plan to use STEEL in anything but my AK and if I do use STEEL in my AR I will be VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT IT!

NO. The steel case doesn't expand and seal in the chamber as tightly as brass. It leaves more carbon and creates the stickiness. It is NOT the coating turning to glue. Clean your gun.

I've shot PLENTY of steal ammo in my SW MP 15X with ZERO problems.
