All you bastardz are back to

All you bastardz are back to bitching about how "shitty steel ammo" is. A few months ago most of you woulda(or did) trade off your old ladies for a few crushed boxes(if you could find it)on the back of the shelf at Wally World. Just saying it's nice to see things are almost back to normal regarding ammo though it sucks about the 5.45 stuff.

best deal I got on this when

best deal I got on this when Cabela had free shipping...I bought 500 plus the box for 140 and I love it...ppl say it burns dirty, that is a lie, never jammed I shot all 500 no problem...only issue is I can't shoot it at angeles range because of the steel core. shoots accurate too, if you can hit 200 yards with a red dot means its accurate..effective range for ar15 is 600 anyway!

I don't find it any dirtier

I don't find it any dirtier than any other ammo. It's accuracy up to 150 yards standing w/ just iron sights is no different than the Lake city or any other brand 55/62 grain the same way.

It is however rough on the barrel and will shoot it out much quicker. Its been proven.

proven by whom? ive never

proven by whom? ive never seen any proof #1 it takes a steel that is harder than another steel to have any issue at all steel cases are mild steel, barrels are not. bi metal jackets are softer than barrel steel so therefore your claim is invalid.

Come on Cabelas make it $5 again it was just $5 back in August. Maybe it is due to inflation from the feds quantitative easing so I will give them that.

2- many manufacturers recommend keeping steel out if nice ars
3- sad day when we rejoice on crap steel that costs what I was paying for federal brass in Dec
4. It's very stinky ammo, but will go bang
5. Clean rifles every time with this

Ditto on #1. I recently

Ditto on #1. I recently graphed steel and brass .223/5.56 prices going back to December. Prices are taking a sharp dive and I expect they will continue to drop as free market/competetion brings them back down to pre-panic levels. It's not in freefall, but it's definitely dropping fast.

Keep in mind, while there ARE new gun owners that have a need for ammo, I suspect that:

1. A greater portion of those masses bought into the idea of "investment" vs "hobby". This sport isnt for everyone and I imagine a large portion of those folks will not have an impact on future supply/demand.

2. Manufacturers are catching up to the demand of the last 10 months. Stockpilers and preppers are probably balancing their checkbooks and realizing that their dollar will go further if they too wait it out and buy when the price is low again.

I would add also 6) "call mom

I would add also 6) "call mom and ask a permission to shot this ammo before actually trying".

This ammo is definitely not for "good mommies boys" who are afraid to make their hands dirty ...

Shouldn't be news to anyone

Shouldn't be news to anyone that this is rebranded Tulammo... about the worst commercial ammo you can buy. I consider it safe and reasonably consistent, and at $5 a box it has it's place. Tul is relatively low powered, which in some ways is good - picking some up to check that your rifle will eat anything is useful. But a lot of carbine or tight 5.56 rifles could have issues with it especially with rough mags.

Far as steel .223/5.56 goes my personal ranking is Tul --> Wolf --> Brown bear --> Silver Bear/MFS.

Also consider that once you start talking $6 a box you are getting into the range of where some brass like PMC was sometimes available pre-panic. There might be another short window where it dips down there again.

If you absolutely must shoot

If you absolutely must shoot .223 then I guess this is your only choice. I would take Wolf over this though thats for sure, and I'm not a fan of Wolf either. Once it's handled do not touch it as the polymer paint will wear off and lead to failure to feed, or failure to eject as I have experienced. Not a reliable round but if you have a clean feed ramp and good ejector it might not cause issues. I have a piston AR and the bolt and battery managed to get locked forward and couldnt eject the casing on a spent round. Cheap steel had dented or something. I ended up clearing it by removing the gas key on the front and pounding on the piston with a punch set and a hammer. That eventually pushed it out and without damaging the Bolt Carrier group. Herters blamed me and said that the chamber must have been fouled and the BCG was dirty and un-oiled. I then told them that I have an Adams Arms piston kit installed and the chamber was completely free of carbon, they of course changed their tune and offered me a replacement box for free...I have yet touch it

In my experience it's just as reliable as anything else. I've heard just as many horror stories using brass as I have steel case. Sometimes weapons malfunction.

This is what i would like this to say..."We've teamed up with a premier "US" ammunition manufacturer to bring you this winning combination of high-quality, low-priced noncorrosive ammo"...why can't we get reasonably priced ammo manufactured in the US for this price?

Government does not want to

Government does not want to purchase a steel cased ammo, and domestic companies focus on the US government as a customer first, and the rest of the market second. Big government contracts yield a higher profit margin when inexpensive low-margin steel-cased ammo isn't that profitable.

Normally the difference between steel case and brass isn't that great. 0.25/rd for a steel cased ammo versus 0.35/rd for brass isn't that important. Now gap is higher due to the fact that some government agencies are stock-piling brass-cased ammunition. Probably agencies are expecting budget cuts down the road so they spend money now when they still can.

Yah it kinda bullshit that

Yah it kinda bullshit that they get 32 dollars an hour doing city/union run jobs that require the same labor/skill as what i do all day making 12 an hour. Also ive worked on city jobs because they had to contract us being to lazy to learn how to do it right and stupid restrictions caused us to make the same 32 an hour i didnt complain just worked twice as hard as normal taking 1 break for lunch. We watched the union workers take an hour paid lunch as they only worked 8 hours total so i know it was paid and 4 more 15 minute breaks. On top of that saying they worked half as hard (when they even decided to) would be giving them to much credit. Just look at public schools and how hard it is to fire a lazy teacher whos whole class is failing every year. Or how about police officers involved in domestic violence or duis that dont lose their job due to unions, or my neighbor whos a union firefighter and sexually harrased an employee on the clock shitfaced drunk by showing her his junk... he got to keep his job.... so yah its wrong what they expect and get away with so fuck unions theyre as bad as people living off welfare imo. \endrant.

*Yawn* Here is what I read:

*Yawn*

Here is what I read: 'I don't get paid as much as some other people that don't work as hard as me. So there must be something wrong with THEM and not ME! WHAAAAA!'

As for your comment about welfare - I hope you never find yourself in a circumstance that you need to use it... but considering that you are working for $12/hour it's very likely you will. Of course, then you will discover compassion or at least tell yourself that you really deserve the assistance - not like all those (other) deadbeats out there.

I'm done with Cabela's. I

I'm done with Cabela's. I had two separate orders 4 weeks apart with the same result. Both said they were in stock, I even had friends order the same item over an hour later (so it still said in stock), and then got the email saying it was on backorder. They used the same excuse for both orders; computer system malfunction. I can't believe for their size that they would have that bad of an ecommerce system. It seems like they are baiting people in with an in stock status. Though I'm not exactly sure what they gain from doing this thought, since they don't charge until they ship the product. Also, both orders were delayed more than the initial backorder deivery date. I ended up canceling some 9mm after 3 1-month delivery extensions.

I also have used this ammo a lot. I have run a couple of thousand rounds thru my flat top with no issues at all. I also agree with some of the posters saying if it doesn't work in your weapon you're gonna be hurting come SHTF days.

If you rifle does not work

If you rifle does not work with steel case ammo, you should consider getting a new rifle, when SHTF happens, you need a rifle that can shoot any ammo

I love the first world

I love the first world complainers about "dirty ammo". If your gun can't handle all ammo then I think it's time to buy a new gun.

Why anyone would want any type of firearm that won't cycle everything is beyond me.

In a self defense or shtf situation do you really trust your weapon to run through that ammo just fine when the quality control has gone down even with the higher quality companies due to higher production numbers.

This is why loose tolerances on weapons such as the AK, and Glock come in so handy, and will shoot most anything with no problems regardless of the situation.

Step 1: grab a box of

Step 1: grab a box of tissues
Step 2: clean your gun
Step 3: dry your eye

Of course it's dirty, but most people expect that and clean their guns after each time they dump a bunch of rounds through it.

This ammo shoots fine through my rifle. It's dirty and not match grade, but I'm not paying for that. If your rifle can handle it without issue, it's completely fine for what most of us use our rifles for.

For those with sticking

For those with sticking issues you may want to also try Breakfree CLP. It is a very good synthetic blend lube. Costs a bit more but is worth it. Also cheaper if you buy it by the pint instead of the small bottles. Great all round cleaner and lube. Have not used anything else since we switched to it in the Army way back when.
