Update - Change of Contest Terms - May - June Contest - Kel-Tec Sub2K 9mm G17 and Saiga 7.62x39mm, Slickguns.com T-Shirts

Description:

It is time for our second promotional contest. Spread the word about Slickguns.com and win these cool prizes. Share good deals with your friends to earn points. Top promoters will earn prizes, in addition several lucky promoters from our raffle drawing will recieve prizes. Every promotional point you accumulate enters your name in the raffle, the more points you have the greater your chances are for winning prizes. Please read our Contest Terms first.

Update - June 4th - 2012 - Effective immediately, promoting our website on any firearm forum is prohibited. Points accumulated until now will be accepted, but new posts and points from any Firearm Forums with referral links will be deducted and Promoters will be disqualified.

From now on, Facebook clicks will be rewarded with 2 points instead of one.

We apologizes for any inconvenience, but some promoters are violating our own contest rules and the rules of many firearm forums. Due to the post editing options on many forums, it is increasingly hard to determine who is abusing these rules.

Update - Promoting our site on AR15.com is not allowed. Points accumulated until now will be accepted, but new posts and points from AR15.com with referral links will be deducted and may disqualify the Promoter.

If you would like to support our contest with one of your products that you manufacture or sell through your store, please send us an email to office @ slickguns.com to work out the details.

Update - Promoting on social network sites (Facebook, Twitter, G+) is allowed, and it always was!

I'm just sticking to posting non-gun deals... and looking for deals to post on here for you guys to use. So please keep those non-gun deals coming. Wish I could post guns on FB. :( Hard when you work in education and yourFB friends work at your school.

So no promoting on

So no promoting on Slickdeals? That is how I found you guys!

Mark, just wondering if you

Mark, just wondering if you could clarify, is the raffle portion chosen based on 1 raffle chance per point accumulated, or is it 1 chance for each person who has created an account? Thanks for the clarification!

from the terms & conditions -

from the terms & conditions - http://slickguns.com/contest/latest-contest

Every promotional point you accumulate enters your name in the raffle, the more points you have the greater your chances are for winning the prizes.

every point enters your name in the raffle once, more points, better chances.

3 promoters with the greatest number of points get the first 3 prizes and they are not eligible to participate in the raffle portion. We do this to encourace as many visitors as possible to participate.

Hope this helps.

Awesome, thank you sir.

Really ers001? REALLY?!?! Friends off...forever.

The fat lady ain't sung yet.

The fat lady ain't sung yet. You've still got two weeks+ to go. Repost those links.

This is true but yesterday

This is true but yesterday you received 3001 points and I only managed 666. There is no way I can compete with that kind of traffic. You have snatched my hopes and dreams away from me, I hope youre happy with making a grown man sad.

Hey Mark, did that e-mail

Hey Mark, did that e-mail ever make it to you? That account has been giving a lot of trouble with just not sending e-mails lately - and a lot of times it won't even notify me with a failure to deliver..
With the contest and stuff going on I figure you're probably just really busy, but with the problems I've already had I just wanna make sure you're not still waiting for me to send it :)

I got it, I have to figure

I got it, I have to figure out some thing, and I will let you know. Thanks.

Great.. I'm just glad to hear

Great.. I'm just glad to hear you finally got it. Yeah, no rush at all.. especially after how long it took me to get that e-mail to you :)

Well, good luck everyone.

Well, good luck everyone. Since this is just for FB and the like, I'm no longer posting links. I'm a teacher, so the brunt of my FB list includes anti-gun ultra liberals who threaten to cost me my job because of posting gun links on a page that can be viewed by students.

Best of luck with the contest.

Can I have all of his points?

Can I have all of his points?

I need his points way more

I need his points way more than you do. Watch out for that guy a couple spots below me, he's gotten alot of points today. I mean alot, he basically came out of nowhere today.

Yeah I noticed him. He got

Yeah I noticed him. He got over 1k points in less than 24hrs. He is doing something very well, or very wrong. Either way he is coming up fast.

3500+ points in 48 hours...

3500+ points in 48 hours...

I noticed the same thing, at

I noticed the same thing, at 6:45 this morning (July 8th) ers had 2539 points, now 3675, 1136 points in under 12 hours. Id like to know if all those points were within the contest terms because thats pretty damn impressive if they are. Must have A LOT of facebook friends willing to help out. Hell I have 460 facebook friends and I cant even pull off that kind of jump in points. Ive exhausted all my resources so if he continues getting 1750+ points per day Im not going to last long.

What I find with my links is,

What I find with my links is, the day that I post them I get a surge in traffic (as expected), but then it tapers off by about 50-60% each day... So if X-Number people click on day I post, then only 1/2-X on day #2, only 1/4-X on day #3, etc. So as the links get 'stale' after 3-4 days, it's important to I repost the link, taking care to describe slickguns a little differently each time, so as to not appear spam'ey.

The last time I hit slickguns really good, was in a big rant about how gun control in the UK doesn't really work (so it's on topic), and then listed slickguns as a convenient way to shop for guns and ammo online. That was on Friday morning, ans as you can see, the traffic has pretty much tapered off.

Just checked the source and

Just checked the source and it is legit, our Analytics shows all the visits, nice page view rate & very high rate of new visitors to our site. If the promoter allows it I could post the sources, but it won't help others.

Howdy. Actually I have my

Howdy. Actually I have my promo link running on 3 different blogs. I try it on FB every now and again, but eh, for some reason never get too much traction. I, as I'm sure many of us do, appreciate the contest, BTW.

Thanks. Wish I had that many

Thanks. Wish I had that many friends! Haha maybe I should spend more time outside...

Thanks mark! Its good to know

Thanks mark! Its good to know its legit. Makes losing easier to stomach haha

We have a gun group on

We have a gun group on Facebook called Guns! > 24/7 We talk about gun issues and discuss all things gun related. Look us up.

How does the raffle portion

How does the raffle portion of the contest work? Is each point counted as an additional raffle entry? Would someone with 3000 points have more odds of winning than someone with 3 points? Also, would the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners still be eligible for the raffle if they've already won their respective prizes?

I vote each point is a chance

I vote each point is a chance to win. But then again I may be biased :)

But it really does make sense, why should the guy who comes in 4th place who spent dozens of hours repping slick guns and who got thousands of his friends to click the links have the same chances as someone who signed up and did nothing?

Also only one prize per

Also only one prize per person, but the random prizes should be drawn first, and if someone in the top 3 happens to win, they should be given the choice between their drawing prize and their placement prize. These are just my humble suggestions that I'm throwing out there.

kajun_at_work's picture

Do you think that it is

Do you think that it is possible to win a prize in the promoting portion of the contest AND in the raffle part too, or do they take the top 3 finishers out of the raffle?

My guess is they take top 3

My guess is they take top 3 out of the raffle. It would only be fair.

I think they should allow the

I think they should allow the top three to be in the raffle, but of course only allow each person to win one prize. So hypothetically if someone in the top 3 should win the raffle, they choose between their top 3 prize and the raffle prize.

As much as I like this idea,

As much as I like this idea, I hope they don't allow prize swapping because people have this amazing ability to turn into complete jerks whenever something free is given away. Let's say TopTraffic #1 -- because he has the most raffle chances -- also happens to win Raffle #1 and decides that instead of a Kel-tec carbine, they want the Saiga 7.62x39, so they swap prizes and the Kel-Tec becomes the #1 raffle prize. Now when Raffle #1 is re-picked, whoever that winner is will complain that they've already got a 9mm carbine, or don't like Kel-Tec, or specifically wanted the Saiga, or don't like folding weapons, or any one of 100 other sour grape reasons.

I think the prizes are what they are, we all knew what we were getting into when we started sending traffic. Effectively the top 3 traffic people are being compensated for their efforts, so making them ineligible for the raffle portion, much like the way that radio station employees are exempt from radio station contests. You win one of the top 3 traffic slots, congratulations here's your reward for your hard work, move along. Whoever wins the three raffle slots, congratulations, today's your lucky day, count your blessings and move along.

The only possible exception would be if a TopTraffic winner would choose to forfeit their TopTraffic prize, and thus keep themselves eligible for the raffle portion, but then they take their chances just like everyone else and run the risk of walking away empty handed. In such case -- and I think they'd be crazy -- the TopTraffic #4 person just moves into the winners circle as TopTraffic #3.

But, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Then what happens if the

Then what happens if the person in the #1 spot decides they want the raffle prize instead of the 1st place prize? Does the #2 go to #1, and #3 to #2, and #4 to #3. But then say that #3 (the former #4) wants the raffle instead of the 3rd place? And also #2 is kinda pissed because he wanted the 2nd place prize and not the 1st, because he already has it.

Well balls... Does this mean

Well balls... Does this mean we need to go and delete all of our links?

No, just no new posts

No, just no new posts please...

I think this is good because

I think this is good because all the firearm forums I go to have been flooded with slickguns links so I didnt post any because I didnt want to contribute to the onslaught of new posts. Its good to get deals out to people but when you make it a contest it just turns into a free for all post-a-thon which can somewhat compromise the integrity of the forum.

I just registered to post

I just registered to post this comment:

I think this is a bad idea. I have stopped by your site a few times, but now after a few message boards that I am on have been constantly spammed by trolls that post one slickguns referral link after another(in violation of forum rules), I will not be visiting your site anymore, and have already suggested to the forum admins that any and all links to or discussion of slickguns be banned. This will be happening shortly, and based on the growing negative responses to the increasing number of spamming trolls on the forums, I am not alone in staying away from your site.

Wow complain much? A link

Wow complain much? A link sent you to a website that saves you money, has no annoying popups, and doesn't actually sell anything...

Glad you're not a politician

Glad you're not a politician bullets. Because this is you:
*Stop doing what you're doing because I don't agree! You are different from me so therefor whatever you're doing should be banned and I am pointing that out!*

Well aren't you a whiny

Well aren't you a whiny little bitch.

Like you, I too just registered to post this comment, and just found this website from ar15.com, and I fucking love it. Never seen so many genuinely good gun deals together before, and I thank whoever sent me this way.

My suggestion to you: spend more time shooting, less time on the internet.

Not to gripe, but how does

Not to gripe, but how does someone come out of nowhere in this contest and suddenly appear with over 600 points in like a day?

I won the contest last go

I won the contest last go around and I can attest to it being possible to get a bunch of clicks in a very short time if you HAMMER it...However, it is VERY difficult to do so if you're abiding by ALL the terms of the contest. (i.e. Not spamming and flooding forums) - And typically, it'll only be possible a few times before your resources are completey tapped out.

Aside from maybe 1000 clicks or so, I can almost guarantee most other peoples clicks are from spamming forums and their friends and posting on other deal sites which is prohibited. Hopefully those people who have chose to do so will get banned from the forums and be disqualified from the contest for spamming.

Hopefully slickguns will not get a bad reputation and all links be banned from forums just because of some bad promoters with no common courtesy or regard for the rules.

Its not that hard to

Its not that hard to accumulate points. The last contest I had over 6k points at the end of it and still only got second place. I assure you everything I have done to get points abides by this contests terms and rules. I have A LOT of facebook friends and they are already annoyed because they thought the last contest was the end of my link posting. But now that I see there is another contest its time to get some traffic to slickguns. Remember, this isnt my first rodeo and good luck to everyone.

I'd like to be your friend on

I'd like to be your friend on facebook...what's your name?

There was a post by mark or

There was a post by mark or someone that it was illegal this time around to post on Facebook/social networking. I'd like to know where that went. Suddenly, it's not there or I can't find it. If this is nothing more than a Facebook "get your buddies to click-a-roo," rather than actually promoting this site to people who will actually make use of it, then I don't see much point in continuing.
