Description:

$25 Price Drop - These M-38s are in excellent condition! This is the first shipment we have received in years. In 1938 a carbine was adopted as the "7,62 mm Carbine, Model of the Year 1938", commonly known as the M38 in the US, but did not go into production until 1939. It is essentially a shorter version of the M91/30 and was built at Izhevsk until 1945. There was limited production at Tula in 1940 and again in 1944. Both arsenals built some M38s on recycled receivers, both hex and round. Tula M38s are uncommon at the least and sought after by collectors as are 1939 and 1945 dated examples. The M38 was not designed to accept a bayonet since it's intended use was by rear area troops. Stocks made in 1939 and early 1940 had the rear barrel band shoulder close to the rear sight base but this was soon moved forward to bring the pattern in line with the typical M91/30 stock configuration, with the exception of the fore-end.

I refused FFL transfer

I refused FFL transfer because the "excellent" M38 Bud's sent had severe rusting on the trigger assembly and butt plate, plus the furniture hardware was practically rusted to dust. I think Bud's is getting the dregs from Century and trying to pass them off as good. Bud's needs to start culling the junk from their bulk shipments instead of sticking it to their customers. BTW, I've ordered Mosins from Aim Surplus and they've all been as advertised.

I purchased one of these and

I purchased one of these and used my c&r (Illinois) and also used their e-check feature to not be charged the creditcard fees, but with shipping included it's not a half bad deal. Maybe the prices will go down but I wanted to get one of these before they hit $300 or $400 much like a lot of the mausers 98k have in the past year or two.

oh my.. I didn't realize we

oh my.. I didn't realize we were all hating buds now.Yes, they did some price gouging.. So did a lot of places. But the 5-10% increases you might not have noticed at Midway and Brownells for example is just as bad IMO. Inflation is not 10%.
I actually ordered one of these a month ago but haven't been home to see it yet. Bud's customer service was excellent as at the last minute I made a change to ship to my FFL instead of directly to myself (C&R in Texas - they will ship C&R in free states). I have no complaints about Bud's. I have no sympathy if you are stupid enough to buy a $3K DPMS AR or $400 AK drum mag.
Fill me in on who I can now buy guns from?

Right on man, it's your own

Right on man, it's your own damn fault I'd you paid a stupid price for something. The worst they can be accused of is letting stupid be stupid.

A little pricey for Mosin,

A little pricey for Mosin, but with surplus guns, price will only go up so I bit the bullet and got one about a month ago. Stock was an M44 stock, but in excellent shape. All the pieces have been filed and re-stamped for matching serial. Barrel was also excellent; rifling was distinct and not wore down at all. The bolt and trigger group were another story; very rough machining and no polished. The action was very sticky even after thorough cleaning and soaking in oil. I had to swap the bolt and trigger out for a set from ebay.

Honestly don't see how

Honestly don't see how anybody would still buy from these dbags after their bidgunner debacle. They made literally hundreds of thousands of dollars scamming people who were desperate to get something before the ban. There is a special place in hell for these scum bags.

There's also a special place

There's also a special place on the short bus for people dumb enough to throw their money away. I got plenty of stuff during the peak of it for reasonable prices from many different retailers. Sites like bidgunner and beezid and all that crap are all scams anyways.

I bought one last week when

I bought one last week when they showed up at first. I never used buds before and it was fine/easy. -I shipped it to my FFL. I am not a mosin expert but to me it appeared that the rifle was in great shape with a laminated m38 stock. The only dissapointment was that the floor plate (magazine) was force matched. The old number had a line through it and a new matching number was next to it. Other than that, it looks lide a great rifle! I look forward to shooting it.

Oh, and I agree that the price was a little high, but these m38's sold out so quick the last few times I have seen them i went ahead and paid the extra. I think 50 years from now we will laugh that they even sold at this price.

I would really like one of

I would really like one of these but I don't think I can bring myself to purchase from Buds again, especially considering they will not recognize my C&R license and ship the rifle directly to me.

I know this is an old post,

I know this is an old post, but I'd just like to say that I've used my C&R with Bud's at least 5 times. I just bought 3 Type 53's the other day. I'm in Texas, if that matters at all.

Kennyboy will they not ship

Kennyboy will they not ship to any C&R or did they just screw up on your order? I've been on the fence on this one, I want a carbine length but it seems to be a pretty large premium for the M38. I really like the lack of a bayonet though.

so I just called to be 100%

so I just called to be 100% sure and was told they will ship to those with a C&R license in some states. I was told specifically they will ship to me in TX.

From what I understand they

From what I understand they will only ship to ffls and they will not ship to c&r holders
