Nice guns! Happened to be at Bud's last friday and a friend bought one of the round butt Model 10s. The gun was much nicer than the one in the picture.

I wonder if the ones they ship are as nice as in store...

I think it is the luck of the draw with these guns. Mine was quite nice. It was a 10-8 from the Victioria Australia Police Dept. with a 4" bull barrel. It had 95% of its bluing with wear at the barrel front and around the trigger guard, typical service holster wear. Mechanically it was in perfect shape with typical butter smooth S&W trigger. Probably never shot more than 100 times in its service life. I'm not a great shot, but I can shoot the center out of an 8" target at 25 yards with this gun. Deadly accurate and very nice balance. The grips will be very worn out, but you need to add a good set of extended target grips anyway as the standard grips are way too small and short to get a good grip on this revolver.

Good question. If I were buying for a truck gun, or similar use, I'd likely do some kind of cerekote on it anyway. My guess is that Bud's ships them out by the luck of the draw. To Bud's credit they opted not to display a pic of one in mint condition and then ship one that looks like the pic used just to sell the guns.
