Yes, they are loaded with 10% more pressure than a standard 9mm round. This is less than a 9mm+p round though.
I am waiting on my first 9mm
I am waiting on my first 9mm (Taurus PT92) to come in. Would these be ok to use out of the gate with a new gun being that they are loaded with more pressure as you stated or should I break it in with something else? Is there any upside/downside to these? I would be looking to use them for target practice and as back up self defense in my home since I live in NJ and can't use hollow point ammo. Thanks in advance for any help!
Many gun manufacturers
Many gun manufacturers actually recommend using hotter 124gr FMJ for break in period on new handguns. Usually recoil springs are tight and most new handguns would not cycle with low powered ammo like Federal from Wal-Mart. I had this issue on my FNP9, they recommended I use 124gr ammo and this solved the problem.
+1 for breaking in new gun.
+1 for breaking in new gun. Paid 130$ OTD at local gun show last month. Was breaking in a new item with these last night. Had a FTF on 1 out of first 100 used. Wouldn't fire on 2 other attempts and when placed into another known good 9mm. Strange light dings on primer... I have to put on micrometer to see if size issue. Not a big issue for me since I won't be using these NATO for HD but rather federal HST +p 124 HP.
Update... Consensus opinion is that primer was recessed too much (defect) and could only get lightly pinged.
Thanks! I think this is a
Thanks! I think this is a really stupid question, but these are NOT hollow point under the FMJ are they? I am just trying to verify that they would be legal in NJ and don't want to have there be some sort of FMJ round that is similar to JHP.
They are NOT hollow points at
They are NOT hollow points at all. They are FMJ all the way.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Are these loaded hotter than the standard 9mm round, since these are NATO overrun
