I see a lot of good upper

I see a lot of good upper deals that have 1:9 twist, which kinda kills the deal for me - I need 1:7 to satisfy some of my more neurotic tendencies.

Here's hoping something approaching the deals of yesteryear comes around after November!

I have quite a few friends

I have quite a few friends who have fallen into the "it HAS to be 1:7 because that's what the military uses."

Most of my uppers (over a dozen) are 1:9. I chose this twist because it is designed for the 55-62gr bullets found in almost all of the common 5.56/223 ammo I would ever buy.

I do have one 1:7 that I chose specifically for hunting coyotes. If I ever choose to load some some of the longer boat-tail bullets in the 75gr range, the 1:7 is better suited for this if I plan to shoot over 200 yards.

The 1:9 twist is considered "general purpose" for a reason. For the vast majority of the shooters out there, the 1:9 fits the bill. For those who plan an match shooting with the longer, heavier match bullets, the 1:7 is the only way to squeeze that extra accuracy out of it.

I guess the "twist" argument is quite similar to the "chrome lined" one as well. Neither are necessary, but there are folks on both sides who wouldn't even consider anything other than their preference.

(to prevent panty-waddage, I just want to clarify that I am not trying to bust your balls lol Qaeda. I am just throwing a little more info out there for consideration.)
