Ok looking for some opinions

Ok looking for some opinions your brand preference and experience, pick one ar in this category, complete, or build if you could pick one in that 500-700 range for "general" use=occasional 100 yard range shooting/fun. Looking for a complete, or build and be done, Id rather buy more guns later than the thought of accessorizing later. Examples I have looked at i.e. anderson optic ready, armalite mft, radical arms, psa build, the wise arms deals, usual answer I get is starter S&W.

If you haven't heard of

If you haven't heard of Windham Weaponry - you should check them out. I sold my Sport II for a WW AR, and I couldn't be any happier!! Transferable lifetime warranties, and excellent fit, finish, and quality.
Check out reviews from owners that have WW. You can't go wrong with them!!

Picked up the NFA lower

Picked up the NFA lower ($119) and the Red X-Arms complete upper ($410). Took a few months to get the upper after order, but it finally arrived and works great. Built way under $700. Good starter build. So far only used at local indoor range. Can't wait to get it outside somewhere and really try her out...

Any of these are These are great beginner rifles, i would just suggest by just switching out the BCG to a colt or Bravo company BCG you will transform the rifle to a nice mid range rifle, maybe the buffer and buffer spring to and then your really have a good thing going

How would that improve

How would that improve things? I've shot the panther with ~300 rounds in one session. The barrel got hot 1/2 way through to where the heat coming off it obscured the sighting on it, but it kept going until it was too hot to hold.

With the exception of the

With the exception of the goofy Mossberg hunter, I would recommend any of these for the entry level market. I agree with al of the " build it yourself " comments, but for those who are just getting into this game, and can't build their own at home, getting gouged for gun smithing time can be over the top.

The Del-Ton dt Sport can be

The Del-Ton dt Sport can be had for under $700. Very good quality, and well built. I went with it over the S&W 15 as the S&W didn't have a forward assist, or dust cover.
Great AR at a great price.

I have the Bushmaster Carbon

I have the Bushmaster Carbon 15 with red dot and I love it. It shoots all ammo (brass or steel, .223 or 5.56) and my only complaint was the 4 position old-style stock my came with rather than the 6 position that should have been standard. The problem was finding a rubber recoil pad to fit on it, but I did manage to find one at a gun show after a few months of looking.

I agree with those who'd

I agree with those who'd rather build their own but, that being said, I am interested in one absent from the list: NFA's LW15 G-TAC.

Having a standard Colt already, I am interested in a totally flat but fully railed upper for an optic based layout with folding front and rear sites (MBUS) only as back-ups (I don't want a fixed front sight as co-witnessing is not a priority) and I'd rather not lose a giant chunk of my sight picture to a non-removable front sight.

I am also fascinated by the polymer based lowers from NFA- especially after watching the torture tests- so pinning one of those on (~$100) to the G-TAC upper (with it's blackhole weaponry barrel, which also fascinates me) is a cheaper and easier option than building the specter-length monolithic upper with Black Creek barrel that I am always building and pricing in my head.

G-TAC WITH LW-15 LOWER: http://newfrontierarmory.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cP...

G-TAC UPPER ONLY: http://newfrontierarmory.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cP...

The NFA polymer lower is pretty easily found.

I REALLY like my NFA lower

I REALLY like my NFA lower receiver. Paired with the $50 UTG "mil-spec" lower receiver extension and stock it makes a great truck gun. If they ever decide to revamp the upper receiver so as to allow attaching the receiver extension, every lower receiver will be easy to make polymer. Too, I hope they'll also see the advantages of side charging.

Out of the ones listed, I'll choose the M&P and then the Bushmaster.

BUT, I'd much rather build my own from scratch. Handpicking every part.
