Description:

If shows out of stock for you, please try clearing your browser history or search for "IK-218143" on Cabela's website - By replacing costly brass cases and copper jackets with aluminum and nylon, USA-made Herter’s aluminum-case handgun ammunition keeps cost down while preserving clean-shooting reliability and accuracy. Sized to incredibly precise tolerances, the nonreloadable, aircraft-grade aluminum cases cycle smoothly. Premium-quality, round-nose lead bullets are coated with a Total Nylon Jacket (TNJ) to replace expensive copper jackets. TNJ bullets are inherently accurate, and cycle fluidly through semiautomatics. As an added benefit, TNJ bullets eliminate hard-to-remove copper and lead fouling. Made in USA. Per 50.

38 cents for aluminum and

Terrible price for these in

Terrible price for these in this market. Back in 2013, they could get away with this price. Today, this should maybe be $13 a box, max. Brass is under $15 now!

This reminds me of some sort

This reminds me of some sort of vegan hippie ammunition.

You don't get any meat but it costs more than steak.

Oh well, at least if it doesn't kill who you're aiming for, there's no chance you'll give em lead poisoning... and that's really, really nice.

For you health conscious shooters out there, remember to maim responsibly and please, recycle your non reloadable aluminum cases, because we can make a difference.

One love, peace.

Interesting except...you do

Interesting except...you do get all the meat...plenty of lead to poison'em with...vegan hippies hate nylon (bad for the environment) and they would prefer brass as its re-loadable...all in jest though, funny read.

With that said this is good ammo that just happens top be overpriced at this time.

"By replacing costly brass

"By replacing costly brass cases and copper jackets with aluminum and nylon, USA-made Herter’s aluminum-case handgun ammunition keeps cost down"

Then shouldn't these be considerably cheaper than regular rounds made with brass and copper? Who is really saving money here?
Also, "aircraft-grade aluminum" is a very broad term, it really tells nothing.
These may be great rounds, but they need to be cheaper for me to buy into them.

I personally love this stuff.

I personally love this stuff. Between my CZ P-07 and my Ruger LC9, I've used about 500 rounds of TNJ 9mm without a single issue. Feels like it might be loaded a bit hotter than a typical FMJ round. Not like a +P round, but a slightly noticeable increase in recoil versus, say PMC Bronze.

I have used this brand of ammunition in my Ruger P95 and the 40 SW in my XDM 40 without any issues at all. It much cleaner and I did not notice any issues at the range with TNJ ammo.

Someone said that the nylon

Someone said that the nylon jacket will clog up the barrel and are really hard to clean, and the aluminum case gets dented easily if you use a magazine loader.

This will be my first purchase of the Herter's TNJ 9mm, so we'll see.

Depends on the firearm. Have

Depends on the firearm. Have a glock that eats the 9mm no prob, the 1911 will snag on that nylon jacket. It's soft enough that it can hang on some guns. Have a (POS) taurus 24/7G2 9mm that the extractor won't let go of these cases, but works fine with brass and even steel case.

I have gone through 300-350

I have gone through 300-350 rounds in my HK USP .40 and it runs clean, have had no issues using a loader and the gun cleans as easy as ever. I do clean my guns every 50-70 rounds (after each range trip) though.

And yes, I do feel this is a little steep for this ammo.
